I’ve been a film & video editor for over nineteen years in both the documentary and commercial worlds and am currently based in Brooklyn, New York. A native Canadian, I started my editing career in 2002 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands working for 180 Advertising Agency. I came to NYC in 2005 and began working as a commercial editor and ultimately transitioned to documentary content with media companies such as VICE, HBO, Showtime and MTV. Over the years I’ve worked with a wide variety of clients such as Adidas, Canon, Vaseline, IOC, The United Nations, Palladium, Toshiba, Harley Davidson, Mercedes Benz, Geico, Gatorade and Cyndi Lauper. My extensive and varied experience means that I understand different modes of communicating an idea in the most compelling way, from a long form documentary, to a 30 second TV commercial, to a branded content piece.
I once read that Inuit soap stone carvers don’t start a carving knowing what shape the art piece will take, but that a stone will instead “reveal itself to you” as you start carving. I feel the same about editing and take pride in discovering the subtle details in the footage that speak a subject’s truth.
